INFICON has received official certification for its INFICON BM1000 Profinet Interface from the "PROFIBUS Nutzerorganisation e.V." (PROFIBUS User Organization). The new interface allows the integration of leak detectors into fully automated testing systems based on modern PROFINET standard for the first time. PROFINET stands for "Process Field Network" and combines industrial experience for the serial field bus technology with the openness and flexibility of industrial Ethernet. As a leader in leak testing instruments, INFICON introduced the BM1000 ProfiBus Interface in 2012, which supports the serial PROFIBUS automation standard. Leak detectors for fully automated systems, for example the INFICON LDS3000 leak detector, can be ordered with the PROFIBUS or PROFINET interface. The INFICON T-Guard leak detection sensor also offers the ProfiBus interface.

In Germany leaders in the automotive industry have agreed to standardize on the PROFINET standard. In the "Automation Initiative of German Automobile Manufacturers" (AIDA), the companies Audi, BMW, Daimler, Porsche and Volkswagen are committed to and engaged in the use of PROFINET as the automation standard. In Sept. 2014, China declared PROFINET to be the Chinese national standard for automation. With the introduction of PROFINET standard for leak detectors INFICON reacted to the requirements of the market.

The new INFICON BM1000 ProfiNet interface has received full certification according to IEC61158 and IEC61784 and is classified as PROFINET IO Device, Conformance Class B. Click here to see the certificate.
